Please Convince Me

Everytime I watch the AlDub love team grace the screen, I try to imagine myself being in Alden's shoes. No, not because I have feelings for Maine, but because I'm assessing if the emotions felt on TV is real or not.

The reason I am doubting the tandem each time, although I can feel the overflowing sense of kilig in most episodes, has to do with Alden's line of work, along with his past experiences with other relationships; not to mention the women who are linked to him.

We can't deny that Alden has been in the showbiz industry for quite a while and he had a fair share of roles to play on soaps, in movies, and TV series. Meaning, his skills of manipulating his feelings, according to the need of the scene, may be at par with some known celebrities. Some of the most highlighted are his roles as Dr. Jose Rizal, and Llago in the TV soap, Carmella. He can shed a tear when he wants, he can simulate the emotions of being in love.

I can't consider myself a pessimist, although some may think it is the case. More appropriately, I am concerned; concerned about Maine and the feelings she's laying on the line each time the AlDub love team plays on J4A. I am well aware, and so are the rest of us, that the magic began due to the unprofessed feelings for her crush, experimented on real-time TV, and created a smash hit that clicked to the masses. It was Yaya and her genuine admiration that got the clockwork going when the right moment came.

Alden may be, hoping I am wrong, going with the flow of emotions when all of these first started. Yes, he was actually surprised when the reaction was beyond expectations. It was phenomenal! It was nothing you'd ever anticipate to see on TV. But to actually give a flying kiss to Maine on the first day? That got me wondering a bit. And good thing Yaya did not see that coming. Otherwise, it could have been a different story.

And so I have watched Alden Richards go along in the Kalyeserye day after day. He performed his dubsmashing of songs, and had exchanges of fansigns. Yes, I am getting keen into observing his eyes, his smile, and his body language, almost each day. I'm not harboring ill feelings for the man, nor I hate the way he's making things work for the love team. It's just that Maine is so sincere and so darling that I can't, nor does the rest of the boys in the AlDub Nation who admire her, imagine that all of this is just for show.

It was quite normal at first. But each time they're celebrating a weeksary, the feelings Alden is having is becoming deeper and deeper. Seriously?! Can you still call it a game when you're already putting yourself on the line? When you exert so much effort just trying to make her smile? When you'll push yourself beyond your comfort zone just to spend moments with her? Are you still the same casual guy after doing your best to find out what things she like and stalking her friends, family, fans, and even social media just to know more things about her?

The answer to all these is No! There's so much loving feeling coming from Maine that it could be hard to believe that Alden is still acting after seeing everything.

His eyes widen every time he sees something interesting. Be it her singing voice, the way she plays the drums, the way she dances, the manner how she executes her dubsmash, the line-blurring fansigns, or even the way how she dresses for an important event. It's like almost each time a significant day is on the roll, his mind's like "this I gotta see". His excitement can't be contained. He wanted to see her close and trace every inch of her in the recesses of his mind. He needed to see her to satiate his anxiety or calm his trembling anticipation. He wanted to be close to her and be a part of her world.

His smile says it all. He can't rub it off his face. And the longer the Kalyeserye played, the wider the smile became. The dimples became deeper. The beam in his eyes lasted longer. The happiness is reflected in his being.

The effort is truly fascinating. And even more amazing, he does the most surprising feats when the world is actually unaware of what's happening behind the scenes. His thoughtfulness is beyond the mark of an average guy. He could even be compared to a husband thinking of everything to make his wife happy. His creativity is just whoa! There seems to be no end to thinking of ways of how to make Maine feel special. The hat, the isaw, the flower writings on the floor, the heart locks, the standees, the pillows, the dolls, the chocolate wrappers, the pendant, everything. Some of them came from fans to express their admiration to the couple. But it's always Alden making the first move to show what's in store.

His fondness of being close to her, is without question, the most exciting of all. When he's able to grab the chance of calling her attention, he thinks of ways of how to keep his emotions intact with Maine's. Dubsmashing and fansigning may be ordinary. But the choice of songs and the things he write are full of affection. Writing Maine in the fansigns is no joke. Really, he's pushing to blur the reel and real, loving every second of being in that state of euphoria. He came towards Maine's parents, even when it was uncalled for. He loved the straw idea that ir evolved into ice cream and lollipop. Perhaps he liked it so much that he can't help himself to drink in Maine's glass when he had a moment to steal. Touching each other's hands was one thing, but to actually feel her lips in the same glass?! Oh seriously! The feeling just keeps on growing.

And there will be many more things we will see Richard Faulkerson Jr. would do to win Maine's heart, to make their relationship grow. Aktingan pa ba to? After all I have said, I'm a firm believer that the line between actors and lovers have already been crossed. Can you still pretend to be nothing special after everything they have gone through?!

Sam Yg, TVJ, Allan K, Ryan Agoncillo, even Wally and Jose, are having high hopes that what started back in July 16 would last forever, consistently developing day after day. And just like Tinidora and Nidora said, they're watching and their eyes are peeled in checking Maine's feelings from getting hurt. I am sharing that sentiment too. I don't want Meng to feel hurt. She seemed so fragile with this thing called Love that all fans can do is just to wait and see how everything would unfold.

I wish to see both of them holding hands on a stroll in the park. I wish I could see them buying groceries together. I'm praying that they would have that church wedding, exchanging vows with each other. I'm seeing their relationship to be that far-reaching. That they would have cute kids; that they would grow old together. Please, convince me that all of these would end for the best. The Faulkersons, the Mendozas, the EB Family, and the AlDub Nation are all wishing for the best to both of you.
